Proposed inclusion of PSO students and faculty in GASTPE and other matters discussed between CFO and PEAC

Makati City—After the recently concluded webinar with Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs) held on July 29, 2025, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, led by Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II, met with the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) Executive Director Dr. Rhodora Angela Fernandez-Ferrer and staff at the Makati Diamond Residences on July 30, 2025.

Matters of discussion primarily focused on the proposed inclusion of PSO students and faculty in Republic Act (RA) No. 6728, also known as the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE), and its amendments in RA No. 8545, also known as the Expanded GASTPE. Additionally, PEAC shared their upcoming training and certification for PSO teachers in Doha, Qatar in November 2025; and an online Quality Assurance Certification in March 2026.

The meeting concluded with the discussion of other timely matters concerning PSOs, and the determination of additional agendas for the upcoming 89th Inter-Agency Committee on Philippine Schools Overseas Regular Meeting in August 2025.
